Global Debt

My debts are many. I don’t really think of them as something I need to pay back, but to feel.

My debts are deep. If I counted every penny I owe, I would sink into bankruptcy, but the bank is not calling for collection. I will not be leaving my debts behind when I am no longer of this world.

My debts are shared. The people who have raised me up from the darkness, who have stood by my side, held my hand, listened while I cried, opened new doors for me, reminded me how to laugh…are my tribe. My tribe is eclectic and beautiful and powerful. They all share my debt.

I am indebted in the form of gratitude. I appreciate each and every moment they have shared with me. I am thankful for each and every person who has touched my life and given freely of their time and patience. I hope I have been able to help them in return.

If the world debt could be measured in 300 trillion acts of kindness, what a wonderful place it would be!
