Fig Leaves

I always thought that a career as an art critic would be the easiest job on earth. You can never be wrong. Within minutes of the first art ever being created, there was an art critic. While a professional art critic may have gone to school and learned specifics about one form of art or another, they still only have their opinion. Art is brought forth by creative and often talented people that want to share their creations.
Architecture, Cinema, Dance, Literature, Music, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, & Theater are the forms of art that come to mind when I say there is a critic just waiting for the artist to finish. I fear that some art is created for the critic and not born naturally through the artist. Regardless of the artists intentions the art itself can be beautiful to some and horrific to others. I tend to be forgiving or appreciative of art even if I don’t particularly care for it. It still took courage for someone to make something from nothing and put it out for the critics of the world.
The courage of an artist is often over-looked. Many people have a hobby or a hidden talent that could bring others joy, but they are too scared to put it out there. To me, that is sad and yet completely understandable. Others can display their art with little or no regard for what others think. Then there are the ones that comply or give in to the critic and change their creation to please someone else.
