Forgetfulness

She seemed aware of her failing memory, which was a good sign that it wasn’t too far gone. A few years previously, she did crossword puzzles and read quite a lot. These activities would help her memory, so she believed. Eventually, everything became a habit. When there was a slight change in the daily routine, she would feel flustered and overwhelmed. It became hard to concentrate and her forgetfulness
made her anxious.

Her daughter was patient, but the repetitive comments were irritating.
Her mother missed appointments and didn’t show up for meetings and duties that she had volunteered to do. This became a problem. People thought it was rude. She could come across as being quite perceptive for her age, but when one spent more than a few minutes with her, the memory loss became noticeable.

As time went by, she’d forget how to do things like how to use the toaster oven. She’d leave the kitchen and the forgotten toast would burn.
It is sad to see someone lose their memory. The hardest part is when one’s mother no longer recognizes her own child.
