I know better

Doctor, Cure Yourself!

By: N.L. Skjonsby
As an avid learner and reader, I know a great deal about nutrition. I’ve heard since I was very young that “You are what you eat”. It never registered on a biological level that this is 100% true. It sounded more like “An apple a day keeps the Dr. away” type of statement. Thes both sounded like generalizations and it want’ until recently that I gave it much thought. But, “You are what you eat”.
Our cells reproduce and replace each other every seven years on average. That’s what allows us to grow and survive. Every single cell that makes up our body inside and out is made up of what we put in our bodies.
We were created or engineered to survive on 100% natural resources found locally. Something within us is never satisfied so we started to manufacture foods and medicines. While many of these work very well, none of them are as good as the original.
The sun have been around longer than man but only recently have we discovered it’s bad for us and causes skin cancer if we get too much exposure. Well, it isn’t the sun that changed, it’s us. Our skin is made out of processed food and can no longer tolerate the sun like we were originally y made too. That is just one example of how we change our surroundings and blame our surroundings for it.
I know my diet should be made up primarily of vegetables, fruits, & meats that are in season. My dinner choice tonight will be either Chic-filet, Whataburger, or Subway. I know better but I am creature of habit.
