What a Waste

Losing weight, drinking less…those were the usual things he aimed for.
But with job insecurity and relationship issues, the customary adult stresses, he couldn’t shed any pounds and drink became the “comfort” that he turned to.

Like many men who are closer to the end of their lives than the beginning, the fitness of his youth was a thing of the past. He didn’t make time for regular exercising and the business lunches started to accumulate at his waistline. He had a family to provide for and a boss to impress.

He was very disoriented when he felt something wet of his face. The dog was frantically licking and whining, trying to waken him. He was on the floor and the dog was his first responder.
The scan and test results weren’t too bad, but the doctor told him, improve your diet, stay off the booze and start walking more or you’re not going to last long.
He tried, but the old habits were hard to break. His demons got the best of him.
