Imagination or delusion?

Here Comes This Dreamer

By: N.L. Skjonsby

In some ways being an optimist is positive and in others it can be a hindrance. Daydreaming, or wishing for things can eliminate the possibility that you ever achieve the vary dreams you have. Goals and actions provide a much better path towards achievement. That being said, I daydream all the time.
I have a completely unrealistic view of the Lottery. I understand math, I even like math, but I still think……. maybe I’ll win. I’m not a big gambler and don’t waste much money on the lottery but occasionally I do play. The only value I get from spending $2.00-$3.00 on a ticket, is the daydream I have of “What if”. What would I do if I won? I’ll spend 5-10 minutes thinking about the details of what I would do and how I would do it………. if I won.
Most of my other daydreams consist of me starting at the finish line. When I play a sport, I think of being a very successful professional, when I trade a stock, I think of it being the next “Bitcoin”, when I write a story I think of it being the next Harry Potter.
I am not delusional and I don’t lose sight of what is real and what is not but, a little 2 minute vacation never hurt anyone. All pretty harmless in moderation.
