Open Wide Your Hand

I have struggled with charity, and charitable giving. I am a confirmed sceptic and don’t trust people with their hands out. I feel like many charitable organizations are run poorly and not enough of the proceeds are used as they should be. That being said, I love to actually shop and buy toys at Christmas time for company “toy drives” or “Blue Santa”.
St. Jude’s children’s hospital also reaches me and I feel very good when I give to them. So, I guess children’s charities are the most likely to get me attention. I have also donated time and used furniture to Habitat for Humanity. I appreciate what the stand for and feel I have a skill that can help.
I give the most when I am feeling the best. If things are going well, I am more apt to spread the love. By “Going Well”, I don’t mean financially, I mean being in a good headspace. I can and need to do better.
