People To Celebrate

I have a big family.

Many died young.

I am an expert at celebrating the life of___________

Not something I chose or wanted to be good at.

Grew up with the sadness of extremes.

Intense joy, living full out, then poof.

Ceremonies.

Ceremonies are my favorite.

For the living or the not.

Public or Private… though I prefer the latter.

I just did one this morning for a friend.

A MUNDAY MEMORY.

Odd day for a funeral.

A virtual one at that.

A texted ceremony.

It’s what she wanted.

Who am I to say…

Flower petals blowing in the crashing waves of the Pacific.

On this day, covered with blue jellyfish.

Thousands of them.

The normally blue waves, brown providing a stark contrast.

The 40 mph wind blowing the grains of sand like angry tears.

a fitting ceremony of the unexpected like the commemorant.

There have been musical ones.

Poetic ones.

Receptions and Lunches and Pot Lucks.

Retreats.

Shamans.

Trips across the globe.

Lost loves reunited underground.

Trinkets and Talismans.

Crystals and Conch Shells.

Moutain Tops. Caves. The back seat of a Chevy.

One person. Hundreds. A cat.

That was the saddest one for me.

Could be me one day.

One VERY rich cat though.

Consolation?

Revenge?

So much still to do…

You never run out of ceremonies.

Just people to celebrate.
